UNITED TO GET PSG DEFENDER MARQUINHOS?

There are reports in France that Manchester United are open to signing PSG star Marquinhos this summer.

The Brazil international is being chased by numerous top sides in Europe. The Red Devils would face stiff competition for his signature and even greater resistance from his employers.

Jose Mourinho wants a solid defence. He already has Eric Bailly but the Ivorian is injury-prone. There’s Marcus Rojo and Chris Smalling as well. The others are doubts as Mourinho is set to work on the team.

Marquinhos should partner Bailly in defence on the forthcoming season if things go to plan. Goal reports that PSG would not release the player even if they are offered €100 million. Adding Marquinhos would be a real boost to the United defence. They suffered in that regard this term and Mourinho wants a change.

PSG signed the player in 2013 from Roma. Unai Emery is expected to retain the player this summer with a new deal. The player is asking for a higher pay but PSG are reluctant in meeting it. The 22-year old is asking for a deal that would make him one of the highest paid at Parc des Princes. He has two years on his deal so PSG are in no rush as they can still sell him later.

Marquinhos already has 17 caps for the national team. While he says he is happy in Paris, his father Marcos Barros says the club needs to prove that “he is one of the most important players in the team” by approving of the new deal.

Along with Marco Veratti and AdrienRabiot, Marquinhos has proved that he would do much more for PSG.
